The CUC Racing Team consists of numerous members, including Sir Kenneth Grange, Martin Pemberton, Renewable Energy Engineering students at University of Exeter Cornwall Campus, and Sustainable Product Design students at Falmouth University.
Together they worked to not only produce a super-efficient competitive vehicle, but one which is sustainable by design and make; from sourcing materials to end of life. This is an area which the efficient automotive industry often overlooks in seeking lightweight efficiency. CUC Racing showcased innovative new options of producing a lightweight functional vehicle which is sustainable and not built of damaging composites with no end of life strategies.
The body of the car was built not out of the traditional fiberglass, but of coconut husks dipped in a biological-based epoxy!
